Known for sweet peaches, arts and culture, and a blend between skylines and shores, Georgia is a melting pot of destinations — specifically, Atlanta. With just 48 hours, I got to experience the landmarks and hidden gems of the southern city (and I'm itching to go back!). Take a weekend trip to explore the history, nightlife, and views Atlanta has to offer.

Tip: Stay in Midtown if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of downtown and appreciate the arts and culture scene.

Piedmont Park

It's always good to take some time and touch grass during your travels... literally. Piedmont Park is an expansive green space where you can people-watch the locals, soak up the sun, walk around the lakes, and get an Instagram-worthy shot of Midtown's skyline.

Upon walking into the park, I was taken aback by the rolling hills, charming canopies and benches, and endless green space. It was a nice reprieve from the fast pace of the city. What elevated my experience even more was getting a coffee from Cafe Intermezzo —the best coffee in Midtown, IMO. It's a wholesome destination to unwind before you get started on your jampacked itinerary. (I'm not going to lie, one of my favorite parts was swinging on the swings here. It's good to heal your inner child from time to time!)

Georgia Aquarium

This is a must-see on every Atlanta itinerary, and for good reason. America's largest aquarium is one of those marvels that you don't believe until you see it with your own eyes. It's two floors of sea life and animals that pique the interest of every age. I was in awe of the majestic creatures. It was an unbelievable sight to see, truly. Though tickets are expensive, I would say it's worth it because you can spend hours exploring all the different exhibits. You can even pet a few animals, too!

Ponce City Market

If you're traveling with a group, Ponce City Market has a little bit of everything. From shops to food, you could spend a whole day here alone. It has plenty of stores ranging from makeup stores and book stores to local vinyl sellers. It has multiple food options, including a rooftop that overlooks the city. I personally ate at Pancake Social, which is a good spot if you're looking for something trendy.

Ponce City Market is located conveniently next to the Beltline, a famous Atlanta walking trail. You can rent scooters and bikes, or just walk off your eats from the market.

Favorite Food Spots

In just a short time, I got to experience some divine cuisine while in Atlanta. From fast food to sit-down restaurants, there was no shortage of options.

  • Cafe Intermezzo

  • Saints and Council

  • Speciality Chick-fil-A (all across Georgia)
